LOGOS-HUNGARY
FOUNDATION
DEVOTED TO EDUCATION
One of the goals was to attain a modern
theological education, recognizing the needs of the Hungarian society, co-operating
with church environment, answering European norms, one which does not remain
under the bonds of the past but prepares the students of theology for the
problems of our modern society.
The other goal of ours is to implement aid
projects to help overcome the practical difficulties of everyday life, both
mentally and physically.
We pay particular attention to children. FITT
Youth Projects are to give heed and care for the children according to their
age from the least to the biggest; Family YES Programme is to carry out and to
facilitate a sound family model, real love-relationships, where families don’t
have to fear from disappointment, loneliness, rejection and the falling apart
of the family.
We say yes to family!

BA COLLEGE PROGRAMME
Logos-Hungary Foundation started its work in
May 2000, primarily aiming at interdenominational education, as well as
organizing preventive and equal opportunities programmes for keeping the
traditional moral values and crime prevention.
Logos-Hungary Foundation and Logos European
College, within a co-operation agreement, established a college - called
Logos-Hungary Christian College - to accomplish educational goals.
The aim was to establish a college with the
education of standard, protestant interpretation of the Scriptures, ethics,
practical and systematic theology, communication and leadership principles,
providing an American B.A. degree, working in a credit
system.
At the beginning the Foundation contracted
with Logos Christian College and Graduate Schools (Jacksonville, Florida) later
with the college of the Southern Baptist Convention, Southern Bible Institute
and Seminary (Thomson, Georgia).
Since 2003 we issue Certificates, Associate
Certificates, Diplomas and BA theological Degrees within an affiliate
co-operation.
Connecting with Logos European College was the
most important to us, with the idea of establishing the participation in the
international education.
The office of the Academic Dean functions at
Logos European College (Dalgety Bay, Scotland), but the Registrar, relating to
Logos European College, co-ordinates local work at Logos-Hungary Christian College.
The work of the leadership, teachers,
lecturers and students of Logos-Hungary Christian College is based on “Logos
European College (Dalgety Bay, Scotland) Procedures Manual”.
In the Academic year of 2000-2001 the Bachelor
Degree started with 56 students. Total number of our enrolled students up to
now is 185. The number of students writing a Bachelor Project, being the first
graduating students, was 19. In 2004 the number of graduating students was 11.
At the moment 81 students are doing their studies at Logos.
At Logos-Hungary Christian College both local
and adjunct lecturers from Hungary and abroad, Christian professors and
teachers, Bible School leaders from various denominations, pastors and
ministers are teaching.

MASTER – GRADUATE DEGREE
In recent years the training within a high-standard education
provided by Logos-Hungary Foundation opened the door to obtaining American B.A. degree. This qualification corresponds to the academic
expectations of the developing European educational systems. We are encouraged
to further co-operate by the monitoring of education by the Partners
(Logos-European College and Southern Bible Institute and Seminary) as well as
their confidence and content on one hand, and by the demand from Hungarian
church environment for an opportunity in Hungary to move forward, to obtain
Master academic level degree in theology. Master graduate degree has a
completive role in Hungary as in the system of church institutions giving
theological degree there is no opportunity to obtain a
qualification at this level. The Foundation wishes to make this opportunity
available for everyone.
It was also necessary to get to know and study
the international, European education to reach adequate educational standards.
During the Master degree there is an
opportunity to do specific leadership study projects. These mean improvement
both personally and practically, fulfilling various ministry goals. The aim is
to provide further education and professional training for leaders of civil
organizations and churches.
By adopting education from abroad, we provide
an opportunity for the students to receive graduate degrees without travelling
abroad.
As today in Hungary there is only standard and
usually denominational training, and Masters Degree means specific further
education majoring in certain studies, so the contents of the courses have been
formed according to the surveyed and arising demands.
Starting higher standard education required
the examination of the study materials that have worked abroad and also the
preparation of the subjects of the local education during the past two years.
We faced several problems to solve, partly
because of the immature educational methodology of Hungarian church
environment, and partly because we had to investigate the chances and
difficulties of the adoption of the operating school system in Hungary.
At the moment there are 4 students whose
application were accepted by the Partners so, within the co-operation, they can
pursue the specific Masters courses of Logos European College at Logos-Hungary
Christian College.

FITT YOUTH PROJECTS
We regard families based on sound
relationships as the most important fundament of society. We try to support it
with family and children’s days, excursions and organized holidays.
Not only do we minister towards the members of
Christian churches but we invite families who are friends, children from
orphanage as well as disabled children. We organize excursions together with
them. Last time we visited the Palace of Miracles in Budapest, where healthy
and disabled children found experiences together and got closer to each other
unawares.
In the past few years we invited disabled
children to the Father Christmas party, to children’s day, for whom the
“jumping-castle”, the presents and the cheerful community was a great
experience. We regard Biblical education as important for children and
youngsters that we are doing in kindergarten and school age groups. Little
children are taught the basics of Christianity in a playful environment,
children over 10 within a Sunday School system. Within FITT projects we draw
children’s attention with quality programmes. For instance, Sunday School
purposed that the children get to know better the Scriptures so they acquire
Christian principles and ethics.
Education is provided by experienced graduate
theologians who are able to give practical answers to the children’s questions.
We are eager for the children’s opinion to be known within free discussions.
They themselves tell their remarks and questions on the subject matter, so what
they learn becomes more grounded. In the free and easy atmosphere good
relationships, friendships are born.
We believe that common experiences and time
spent together become considerable power in their later development: they learn
to pay attention to each other and behave with their peers following the
Biblical patterns, esteeming the importance of family, helpfulness, tolerance
and accepting others.
We want to teach our children the Christian
principles to be able to adapt in their environment, and not simply adapt but
also be able to give moral attitude and love.
In the community we endeavour to counteract
the rebellion and violence appearing at schools, so that they esteem learning,
devotion, willingness to fight for a cause as a part of their own character.
Together with the parents we aim at
recognizing and supporting the talents and gifts, so that we can nurture people
who are creating values, useful for the society and open to doing good.
